Two political parties... For 330 million people?!

That's what we've got. A country of around 330 million people, of which you could take any 30% and ask what think of any other 30%, and they'll say that they hate them, and we have a system for those 330 million people that gives us only two viable political parties to choose from.

That is pure insanity. Or it's done by design for control. Politics today has become nothing more than a spectator sport, where the voting public has no more effect on what happens than the fans have on a football game.

And what's worse is that the government itself isn't fully responsible for that situation. It's the voters themselves. Try this exercise: Approach you family and tell them that you're going to vote for a party that isn't Democrat/Republican (whichever your family is inclined to lean toward).

See that reaction? That's why we have only two viable parties for 330 million people.

  1. Unfortunately, the alternative is a political scene so splintered that even less gets done than is being done now.

    1. And that is a problem, or bug Mr Gorges? I see that as a feature! Anytime government gets together, liberties get thrown out the windows a little at a time. Keep them fractured and keep them on a leash is my advice.
